Akon’s next single, plus Konvicted chart updates

Akon’s “Don’t Matter,” is set to impact on CHR/Pop radio on January 16, 2007. This is an excellent choice by Akon and should do very well. The song is already blowing up on KYLD in San Francisco and should be added to more stations within the next two weeks. Seeing as KYLD is a Rhythmic station, its likely that the add date for Rhythmic is also January 16th.

In the mean time, “Smack That” and “I wanna love you” still continues to dominate while Akon’s album stays above 100,000 in sales for its 4th week. Akon sold 118,202 albums this week, bringing his totals to 676,702 records sold.

I wanna love you sold 68,366 downloads this week, and down 15 percent from last week’s 80,613 and falls to number 4 on Billboard’s Hot digital songs. The song is number two on overall radioplay, behind Beyonce’s Irreplaceable according to Nielsen BDS/Arbitron figures. The song will remain number 2 on Billboard’s Hot 100, after last week’s fall from the number 1 position.

Smack That sold 74,531 downloads this week, down only 2 percent from last week’s 76,190. This gives it the number 3 position for this week’s Billboard Hot digital songs. The song will fall to number 4 on Billboard’s Hot 100 as Fergie’s Fergalicious takes the number 3 spot.

In other news, TLC's Sleigh Ride is proving again to be a Christmas favorite, as its radio play steadily increasing for the Holiday season.
