So, finally there's a response from Akon in a Press Release... Akon apologizes for dirty dance onstage  Akon, under fire for a sexually explicit dance onstage with a 14-year-old girl, has offered an apology to the teen and anyone else who was offended by the display. Akon was videotaped simulating sex with a girl invited onstage as part of his act during an April 12 concert in Trinidad. After the video was circulated widely on the Internet, it was revealed that she was 14. Since the incident, Verizon has pulled out as a sponsor of his tour with Gwen Stefani, for whom he wrote the hit "The Sweet Escape."

From the Trinidad Express...  Police have closed the book on investigations into the Danah Alleyne/Akon matter, Deputy Commissioner of Police Winston Cooper says. "The matter seems to be a stalemate, as the people who are responsible have not come forward to support the police in any way. I would say it is completed," Cooper said during a weekly press conference at Police Headquarters in Port of Spain on Monday. For the past three weeks, police have been investigating the dirty dancing incident involving 15-year-old Danah Alleyne and the R&B/hip-hop singer which took place at the Zen nightclub on April 12.

Before becoming Akon's latest find, Dolla (real name: Roderick Anthony Burton II) was a member of an Atlanta-based group called The Rascals, which caught the attention of heavyweights such as Missy Elliot and Diddy. After making connects with the aforementioned moguls, he ventured into the fashion industry, working for Diddy as a Sean John model. As a model, his image covered the Hyatt Hotel billboard in Los Angeles, but it was his undeniable rapping skills that impressed Akon in the studio that sparked a relationship that eventually turned into a record deal.
